From the back cover of the box:
The greatest scandal ever to rock professional baseball sadly involved one of the greatest teams ever to play the game. That team was the 1919 Chicago White Sox, and they threw the World Series. During the scandal, the team would be referred to as the Black Sox, a name which would stick.
Eight White Sox players were banished from professional baseball forever. They were Eddie Cicotte star pitcher, Shoeless Joe Jackson left fielder and heavy hitter, Oscar Happy Feisch center fielder, Charles Swede Risberg shortstop, Arnold Chick Gandil first baseman, Claude Lefty Williams pitcher, Fred McMullin utility player, and Geroge Buck Weaver third baseman. Of the eight, only Buck Weaver was not part of the conspiracy, however since he knew about the fix he was banished along with the others.
Of the 25 cards, the cards for the seven players mentioned above have information on the back regarding a little of their history. The other 18 cards are blank on the back. The cards are black and white.
Actually, there are 26 cards. There are 2 cards for Shoeless Joe Jackson, both exactly alike except that one is in color.
THIS SET IS A REPRINT. It is still in its original box and I dont believe the cards have ever been out of the box until the time I took the photos for this listing.
