From Wikipedia: A Skookum doll was a Native American themed doll, sold as a souvenir item in the early 20th century. The patent was issued in late 1913 to early 1914.
I purchased it at an estate sale. The seller stated that it was her mother's doll from when the mother was a child in the 1930s. If it was played with, it wasn't much because I think it's in remarkable condition.
Here's the particulars:
-Its height is just about 15 inches.
-The doll's eyes are looking to the right. From what I read, that fact seems to be important but I don't know why.
-There are no arms. These dolls were made that way purposely for a tight fit for the blanket.
-The neck is stamped 8-30 USA.
-The body appears to be straw stuffed into a muslin type of material, possibly a muslin sack.
-The legs are wood dowels, the pant legs appear to be pressed felt.
-I believe the shoes are wood.
-I believe the hair is mohair.
-It is wrapped in a removable blanket.
EXPLANATION OF PRIORITY MAIL SHIPPING CHARGES:
Google will not include items in their search pages unless a shipping charge is stated or unless calculated shipping is offered. Calculated shipping is very often quoted incorrectly so I choose to post a charge using the east coast as the destination. If you live in or near Arizona, your charges may be less and if so I will refund an appropriate portion of those charges. If you feel uncomfortable with that, just send me an email with your zipcode and I'll quote you an exact delivery charge.
That being said, buyer to pay no more than $12.95 for Insured USPS Priority Mail delivery charges, again, possibly less depending on your location. The package will arrive with Signature Required delivery, meaning someone will have to sign for the package when it's delivered. Since the insurance and the signature confirmation is for the protection of both of us, I split those cost with the buyer.
If Paypal is your means of providing payment, I only ship to the registered Paypal address.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING CHARGES: Twice yearly, and again in November for the holiday season (so three times per year) the postal service increases shipping charges. This is what they call their "Delivering For America" plan in which they hope to become profitable. It's a 10 year plan that started in 2021, so we've got years to go with multiple price increases on shipping charges each year. I try to absorb the new charges and haven't increased my shipping charges in three years. This year unfortunately, I have to if I want to stay in business. I'll try to keep it reasonable and even absorb some of the increases when possible.
I do combine shipping on multiple items purchased as long as all items will safely fit into a single box or envelope. However, my web host is not set up to calculate multiple item shipping costs. At checkout, you will be charged full shipping price on each item purchased and I will refund the appropriate amount of overpayment. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can send me an email with your zip code and stating which items you'll be purchasing and I'll calculate the correct combined shipping charges and send you a custom invoice.
INTERNATIONAL PURCHASED: Sorry, I do not ship to locations outside of the United States.
All items in my listings come from either estate or garage sales. I do not know if they come from homes where smoking or pets were present. Unless otherwise stated, all items are sold in the same condition as when I obtained them.
